Weekly Announcements

“Seek ye first the Kingdom of God”. You are invited to begin your day with members of the church family on a phone teleconference each morning Monday through Friday, 6:30 – 6:40 for prayer and meditation. Simply dial 1.515.739.1015, follow the instructions and enter 505-087-623 as the meeting ID. Please call in by 6:28 a.m.


The Identity Fair for our three brand new mentorship programs will be downstairs in the Fellowship Hall immediately following service. See you there!


Children's church October message: Daniel in the Lion's Den October 29th.


Fifth Sundays have been designated as Special/Sacrificial Offering Days. Members who have never tried tithing at all are asked to tithe at least 10% of your income as a sacrificial offering. Members who tithe are asked to give a sacrificial offering of at least 5% above the tithe. The offering will be used to take on major projects.


ATTENTION: All Ladies 18 and Older! The women will have their monthly fellowship on October 28, 2017. Please meet us in the Fellowship Hall from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. As always, we’re looking forward to a spectacular time together. Don’t forget to bring a friend with you.


You are invited to join us Family and Friends Day Sunday, October 29, 2017, with Sunday School and morning worship.


All are invited to the 2017 FALL FESTIVAL Monday, October 30, 8:30 a.m.—4:00 p.m. There will be arts and crafts, games, food, exercises and fellowship. We can accommodate 100 people for the day long event. Please register today in the church foyer. Donations of treats are appreciated. Volunteers are needed and your prayerful support is requested.


The Legacy Awards Scholarship Banquet Selection Committee is accepting nomination applications to honor six individuals in the area of Faith, Medicine/Healthcare, Education, Humanitarian, Civic and Business, at the Ninth Annual Legacy Awards Scholarship Banquet March 3, 2018. If you know of ordinary people who are doing extraordinary things in these areas, please feel free to pick-up a nomination packet in the church vestibule or life center lobby. All proceeds from the event will benefit five area high school seniors to further their education. Nomination information must be received in the church office by November 21, 2018, 12 o’clock noon. Snail mail or delivery only, no exceptions.
Scholarship applications for the Ninth Annual Legacy Awards Scholarship Banquet are available in the vestibule and on the church’s website. The application deadline is December 1, 2017.

THE HCBC NURSERY IS OPEN! Caretakers will be available to receive children, infant to age 5 from 10:45 – 11:30. If no children have arrived by 11:30, nursery workers will come to the sanctuary for service. Parents must have and leave a cell phone number with nursery workers and are asked to keep the phone on vibrate during the worship service. The Nursery will contact parents in the case of an emergency. Please bring any supplies (snacks, diapers, bibs, etc.) your child will need. Children are to be picked up immediately after service. The nursery caretakers look forward to having your little ones with us!


The Maggie R. Johnson Give Back to the Community Ministry is accepting winter clothing. Please contact Sister Susan Thomas at 706-351-9670.


Need a ride? To request transportation for Sunday service, please contact the church office before noon on Fridays.


Dance classes are offered here at Hill Chapel Baptist Church Tuesday nights in the Life Center. Line Dance Class: 6:00 — 7:00 p.m.; Ballroom Dance Class: 7:15 — 8:15 p.m. Classes are $5 per person. For information, see Minister Charlie Maddox.


The Church Women United-Athens special project for this month is coats and sweaters for children and adults. They are also collecting shoes for The GMBC Ushers Auxiliary Mission Outreach. All types and all sizes of shoes for children, women and men are needed. For more information about the CWU project, you may contact Mother Ruby Herron at 706-795-6143 and Sister Sarah Tate about the shoe project at 706-548-5311.

Silver Bells Are Ringing! The Annual Red Kettle Campaign is in full swing! Ministries are asked to Adopt-A-Kettle for the day or volunteer to ring the bell this Christmas season. All money raised from the kettles goes towards the programs and services of The Salvation Army in your local area.
