Ms. Elizabeth G. Kings Centennial CelebrationE. G. King Centennial Celebration

You are cordially invited to Ms. Elizabeth G. King’s Centennial Celebration Saturday, February 3, 2018, 4:00 p.m. here at Hill Chapel Baptist Church. Join us as we gather to celebrate her life through music, tributes, and fellowship. A reception will conclude the evening. If you are interested in joining the E. G. King Centennial Chorus, please plan to attend the following rehearsals. Tuesdays, January 16, 23 and 30 at 6:30 p.m. in the Hill Chapel Baptist Church Music and Worship Arts area or sanctuary. This year we will be using the book My Utmost For His Highest by Oswald Chambers for the devotional reading. Please call in by 6:28 a.m.


The Women’s Ministry will have their first fellowship of the New Year on January 27th. We invite new ladies who are 18 and older to join us as we go into 2018 with a stronger commitment. As we delve into a new chal-lenge, we resolve to maintain a specific focus throughout the year. Please meet us in the Fellowship Hall from 10:00-12:00 p.m. to learn more about this exciting challenge. Come grow with us! Don’t forget to pray about our time together.


Brother Dale Hunter will be ordained at a special Ordination Service Sunday, January 21, at 4:00 p.m. Pastor Nickcoma Burch, pastor of Good Hope Baptist Church will be the guest preacher.


The Identity Ministry is in need of additional mentors/spiritual parents for the Pure Connection Program. The Pure Connection Program creates a fulfilling opportunity for a Hill Chapel Member over the age of 35 to become a spiritual parent/mentor for a young adult during their time in Athens. If interested please see Julius Thomas or pick up an application in the front entrance lobby. You can turn in applications to the church office or to Brother Julius directly.

The Identity Ministry will be hosting lunch in the Fellowship Hall for young adults ages 18-35 who are either currently or interested in getting involved in church on January 28, 2018 after service.


All young adults ages 18-35 are invited to join the Identity Ministry to see the Atlanta Hawks vs. Cleveland Cavaliers on February 9, 2018. Transportation is provided and tickets are $40. Please give cash to Minster Fenwick Broyard after church today!!


The Identity Ministry and Hill Chapel Baptist Church will be hosting Wesley for the spring semester Unity Service February 25, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. Breakfast will be provided for all young adults ages18-35 from 10:00AM-10:45 a.m.


Join us for an evening of praise Saturday, January 27, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. The Afro American Gospel Choir of the University of Alabama will be performing in concert.

THE HCBC NURSERY HAS A NEW LOCATION! The nursery is now located in the Jesse Barnes, Jr. Family Life Center, first classroom on the left. Entrance Double doors nearest the JBJFLC will NOT be accessible. Please enter the church as normal and proceed to the JBJFLC. Remember, parents MUST sign their child in with complete name, age and parent's /guardian's cell number to be reached during service.

Dance classes are offered here at Hill Chapel Baptist Church Tuesday nights in the Life Center. Line Dance Class: 6:00 — 7:00 p.m.; Ballroom Dance Class: 7:15 — 8:15 p.m. Classes are $5 per person. For information, see Minister Charlie Maddox.


It’s that time of year for the Ninth Annual Legacy Awards Scholarship Banquet Saturday, March 3, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. in the Jesse Barnes, Jr. Family Life Center. It is with great pleasure we the committee would like to announce the 2018 Honorees: Reverend Larry Fort (Faith); Dr. Farris Johnson (Medicine/Healthcare); Mr. Robert Payne (Education); Johnnie Lay Burke (Humanitarian); Mayor Nancy Denson (Civic); and The VFW Post #3910 (Business). The funds from the banquet will go to provide scholarships for high school seniors in Athens-Clarke County and surrounding areas to further their education. Additionally, the banquet will expose youth of our community and others to the endless possibilities of service, leadership and excellence that citizens like them can achieve. A planning meeting has been scheduled for the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia, Inc. Eight District Advisors to the President Monday, January 29, 2018 at 8 a.m. at the Holiday Inn located at 197 E. Broad Street, Athens, Georgia.


The Young Scholars Program is a paid six-week summer internship for high school students interested in agricultural, food and environmental sciences. Organized by the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES), selected students work 30 hours a week on the UGA Athens campus, actively engaged in research under the guidance of a faculty mentor. The program dates this year is Monday, June 4th – Friday, July 13th. Students must be 16 by the program start date and the application is due on Wednesday, January 31st. Please review the UGA Young Scholars Video and the Office of Diversity Affairs website for more information on Young Scholars.
