Weekly Announcements

“Seek ye first the Kingdom of God”. You are invited to begin your day with members of the church family on a phone teleconference each morning Monday through Friday, 6:30 – 6:40 for prayer and meditation. Simply dial 1.515.739.1015, follow the instructions and enter 505-087-623 as the meeting ID. This year we will be using the book My Utmost For His Highest by Oswald Chambers for the devotional reading. Please call in by 6:28 a.m.

THE HCBC NURSERY! The nursery is located in the Jesse Barnes, Jr. Family Life Center, first classroom on the left. Entrance Double doors nearest the JBJFLC will NOT be accessible. Please enter the church as normal and proceed to the JBJFLC. Remember, parents MUST sign their child in with complete name, age and parent's/guardian's cell number to be reached during service.

Calling all Hill Chapel Women Encouragers!
For the month of May, the women will meet for the monthly fellowship on the third Saturday, May 19th, instead of the fourth Saturday because the church will be traveling to Alabama. We will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 10:00 a.m. Are you feeling like encouraging someone this month or do you need to be encouraged? If so, don’t miss this fellowship! We are planning to spend some time doing outreach at Athens Heritage. Join us to find out how you can exercise your spiritual gift. Please pray for our time together.

2018 High School and College Graduates, Christian Education instructors and staff, retires and new member graduates will be recognized on “Education Day” at Hill Chapel, May 20, 2018.

Church-Wide Spring Cleaning

Pastor Lett and the members and friends of Hill Chapel Baptist Church have been invited to be the guests of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church of Daphne, Alabama, as they observe their Pastor’s 8th Pastoral Appreciation, Sunday, May 27, 2018 during the morning worship service at 11 o’clock. Pastor Lett will bring the message, our music ministry and deacons have been asked to lead in worship. A bus is scheduled to leave Athens from Hill Chapel at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 26. The church is providing transportation for the first 52 people to sign-up and pays for their room. All persons who will be traveling are asked to fill out a trip reservation form. The cost to reserve your room is $141.90 ($129.00 + $12.90 tax, Single occupancy; $70.95, Double occupancy). Please make checks or money orders payable to Hill Chapel Baptist Church. Reservation forms are available in the vestibule. Please contact Sister LaVerne Fortson for reservation forms.

Dance classes are offered here at Hill Chapel Baptist Church Tuesday nights in the Life Center. Line Dance Class: 6:00 — 7:00 p.m.; Ballroom Dance Class: 7:15 — 8:15 p.m. Classes are $5 per person. For information, see Minister Charlie Maddox.

Let’s celebrate our 126th Anniversary and Homecoming Celebration June 10, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with guest preacher Reverend Marcus L. Stroud, Pastor of First African Church “Temple of Hope”, Sylvester, Georgia and our 126th Anniversary/Homecoming Choir. Our anniversary theme: “Remaining Faithful as Ambassadors for Christ God”, scripture 2 Corinthians 5:20. Our anniversary colors are Black, White and Gold. We are planning an awesome time in the Lord!

The 2018 Vacation Bible School theme is "God Squad-Special Agents in Action". VBS will be held June 11-15, 2018 from 5:15-8:30 pm. Ages range from 3 years old to adults. Nursery care will be provided for infants to 2 years old. Come and enjoy a week of fun filled activities and Bible learning. Refreshments will be served from 5:15-5:45 in the fellowship hall. Registration for VBS runs from May 6th-June 10th. All youth and adults who plan to attend are encouraged to register. A registration table is set up in the breezeway of the life center. Iota Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., presents Poise and Power Cotillion Scholarship Program sponsored by the Pearls of Wisdom and Grace Foundation.
